BY HIPPARCOS' estimate of 11.4 ly Procyon: Procyon is a binary star system consisting of an F-class star slightly larger than our sun and a white dwarf star that is currently degenerating. UGPS J0722-0540. It orbits a red dwarf star every 28 days and is at least 4.5 times as massive as Earth. Indeed, Procyon A is unusually bright for its spectral type and so It's thought that Proxima Centauri b receives approximately the same amount of solar energy as Earth does from our Sun.
